Introduction

Synergy Office Integration allows you to open and view Microsoft documents such as Microsoft Word documents, Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, and Microsoft PowerPoint presentations. Apart from that, you can also view the attachment’s main Exact Synergy Enterprise document. This allows you to refer to any further information that may accompany the attachment.

The following options are available:

• Opening a document - You can open documents saved in Exact Synergy Enterprise in Microsoft Office using Synergy Office Integration. This is useful when you need to edit the documents in Microsoft Office.
• Viewing a document - You can view the Exact Synergy Enterprise document that accompanied the attachment, if any, in from Microsoft Office. This is useful when you are working on an attachment and would like to view the main document stored in Exact Synergy Enterprise.

How do I open an Exact Synergy Enterprise document?

1. Click Open in the Home menu bar. The following screen displays an example of the button in Microsoft Word:
   
   
   
   

2. In the pop-up window, search and select the document that you want to open in Microsoft Office. You can only open documents that you have access to.

Keep in mind:

• If the document does not contain any attachment, the main body will be opened. This is applicable to Microsoft Word only.
• If the document contains body content and attachments, you will need to select either to open the body content or any of the attachment for editing. This is applicable to Microsoft Word only.
• For Microsoft Excel or PowerPoint, if the document contains only one attachment, it will be opened automatically. If there is more than one attachment, you will need to select which attachment to open.
• When you click Open in Microsoft Word, all documents in Exact Synergy Enterprise will be displayed. However, in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, only documents with the corresponding attachment type will be available for selection when you click Open.
• If the document type has the check-in and check-out feature enabled, it will be handled differently. For such documents, when it is opened, you will be asked whether you want to check out the document. If the document has been checked out, you will be notified of it.

How do I view an Exact Synergy Enterprise document?

1. Make sure an attachment is already opened. For more information, see Opening Microsoft Office documents.
2. Click View in the Home menu bar. The following screen displays an example of the button in Microsoft Word:
   
   
   

3. When View is clicked, a window will pop up displaying the main document.
